Bich-Hang Duong
Bich-Hang Duong is a researcher on the RISE Vietnam team. Her research interests include citizenship studies, cultural politics of education, educational equity, comparative education and critical theory. Her PhD research sought to understand how citizenship was perceived in the context of post-socialist Vietnam and how social studies teachers experienced and navigated the difficulties in teaching citizenship. She is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota. Her research work explores beliefs and pedagogical practices of Vietnamese teachers’ and opinions of related stakeholders with regard to the competency-based educational reform in Vietnam. Working closely with other RISE Vietnam CRT members, she contributes to generating RISE scholarship that seeks an in-depth understanding of what works (or does not work) and what lessons can be learned in contemporary educational and institutional reforms in developing countries.
